Forgiveness, Love & Mercy

Lord, as one year closes and another one opens, I pray that you bless me with an abundant amount of graces. That through your grace I learn true forgiveness of others. Make me an instrument of your love through my forgiveness of others and lead me to be an example of your mercy in the world. Amen.

Ah yes, New Years. It's just after 2:30 AM New Years Day and I've made a resolution to write a prayer a day on this new blog. For some time I've been praying for God to help me strengthen my prayer life and this blog is what I'm motivated to do. The prayer I wrote is important to me because it reflects a sense of forgiveness so often mentioned around this time of year. People sing Auld Lang Syne and the feeling of "starting fresh," forgetting and forgiving is in the air. It's vital to remember that being Christlike means forgiving those who have wronged you. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us..." (the Our Father). It is through God's love and love for one another that we can forgive each other. I ask God as often as I remember to make me an instrument of his mercy and love in my day-to-day life.
